16 3/4 - Reflection

The finalized version of 16 3/4 has finally been posted! It has been great producing this video since the start of it all. The concept behind 16 3/4 is very interesting. A simple slideshow that goes through the past years of my life in 56 seconds. Throughout production, I have used a single video editing software to produce everything. That editing software is Adobe Premiere Pro, a robust video editing software designed for post-production of many types of content involving video. Premiere Pro, of course, makes producing a simple slideshow simple. The slideshow was able to be sequentially put together simply by dragging media from a bin into the timeline and sandwiching it together with other media in order. The method used to resize each piece of media in the video was to go into Effect Controls, and modify the scale to the appropriate value. Adobe Premiere Pro has also enabled me to utilize keyframe animation in a short portion in my video. The 16 3/4 logo incorporates a keyframe animation where Horizontal Scale increases as a certain note of the inserted song plays. Cuts were among the most common transition in this video, followed by a single dissolve transition at the end of the video.
The production of 16 3/4 itself has been a great learning experience for me. Coming up with an idea for the commercial did take a while. The current concept is designed to be clean, but also go over the past 16 3/4 years of my life in less than 60 seconds. To be able to fit this goal provided a challenge later met by the time the final version of the film had been finalized. Handpicking the footage was pretty much a lengthy part of the entire production process. Editing the video was smooth sailing. Footage that was going to be initially added, however, did have to end up being taken away due to the lack of some eras of my life being featured. All works resulted in the creation of a 56-second film in commercial form that fits the very goal of this project.
For the next time, I plan to make use of scenes that may require the use of more advanced graphics to have the video visually stand out. The Horizontal Scale keyframe animation worked very well for this video. However, there are infinitely many other opportunities avaliable for graphic work. Many programs, including Premiere Pro, and its sister application, After Effects, are able to help excecute this work. At the same time, I plan to have a clear idea on video flow. Some viewers during review have stated that although the entire concept of capturing the past 16 3/4 years of my life was great, the video felt sped up as it progressed through all of the footage during playback.
16 3/4 was definitely a great video. I look forward to commencing production of the next project. Thank you for following along!
